Recently, Ana Cuevas, a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration student, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship by The National Hispanic University scholarship committee. The scholarship was funded by Gloria Castaneda, owner of Catering for All Occasions, who has a cafeteria on the university's campus and also caters many of the university’s events.
Ms. Castaneda said the scholarship was a way for her to express her gratitude to the students for their business and to demonstrate the university’s Familia™ spirit.
The concept of Familia™ is one that Ms. Cuevas was familiar with even before starting her educational journey, and she hopes her education and Ms. Castaneda’s generosity will help her enable others to succeed. "With my bachelor’s degree, I hope to acquire as much knowledge as possible to give back to this community," said Ms. Cuevas. "I would like to teach teenagers and young adults about the importance of economics and finance, and with the help of this scholarship from Ms. Castaneda, I am now one step closer to graduation and that goal."
"Investing directly in the success of our students strengthens our community today and for many years to come," said Dr. David P. López, president of The National Hispanic University.
