General Concentration

The child development field is among the most diverse areas of study. In this concentration you can customize your course selection according to your personal and professional goals. Rather than focusing on one concentration, you have the option to take any three upper-division courses that interest you from across the Bachelor of Arts in Child Development program. This allows you to take more courses in a specific topic or explore several areas while you gain the latest core concepts, research-based strategies, and evidence-based learning to become a culturally responsive professional who can address specific needs in today's multicultural classrooms.

You can transfer up to 90 semester units into this program.

This program can help you prepare for careers including:

  • Early childhood teacher/assistant

  • Director of child development programs

  • Family day care provider

  • Infant-toddler child care provider/teacher

  • Elementary school pre-teacher trainee

  • Preschool and child development center administrator

  • Parent educator
